Research and design of charge particle accelerators

According to the agreement between INR and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) INR develops and fabricates two Bunch Shape Monitors (BSM) for the linear accelerator of Los Alamos Neutron Science Center LANSCE. The BSMs will operate at the frequencies of 201.25 MHz and 402.5 MHz. The phase resolution of both BSMs will be better than 1 degree at 201.25 MHz.
Fabrication and laboratory tests of the BSMs are completed and the detectors are ready for shipment. Commissioning of the detectors at the LANSCE accelerator is planned to be completed by October 2014.

Linear accelerator Linac-4 CERN is being constructed within the frame of LHC upgrade program. The agreement on development, fabrication, delivery and commissioning of Bunch Shape Monitors (BSM) for Linac-4 between INR and CERN has been signed in 2009. The BSM was foreseen to be used at several locations in the accelerator during its commissioning. Phase resolution of BSM is better than 1 degree at 352.2 MHz for H-minus beam pulse currents up to 60 mA. The detector was put in operation and the first results were obtained in 2013 initially at the RFQ test bench and then at the exit of RFQ in the Lnac-4 tunnel.
After receiving the first experimental results a decision on development and fabrication of the similar detector but with the increased aperture for the use in the Linac-4 to PS Booster line has been made and the agreement between INR and CERN has been signed for 2013-2015. Recently the development of the design have been completed.

The contract between INR and GSI Helmholtzzentrum fur Schwerionenforschung GmbH on development, fabrication, delivery and commissioning of Bunch Shape Monitor (BSM) for GSI and FAIR linacs has been signed in April 2014. The BSM is intended for the use with the variety of ions from protons to uranium.
It will be used for the existing heavy ion linac UNILAC as well as for proton linac and heavy ion CW linac being constructed within the FAIR project (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research). The versatility is obtained by the use of three replaceable RF deflectors along with the RF electronics chains operating for three frequencies 108.498 MHz, 216.816 MHz and 325.224 MHz. The possibility to spread the range of measurement up to full period will be implemented.
The preliminary design is being developed now.
