ESIN Sergey Konstantinovich
(July 13, 1928 - September 11, 2014).

Doctor in Engineering, Professor (1983).

He worked at the Institute since the first years of its foundation. Until 1998, he headed the Accelerator Complex Department, then worked as a Chief Scientist of the Department.

He made a decisive contribution to the construction and physical startup of a unique high-current linear accelerator of hydrogen ions at the Moscow Meson Factory, which allowed one to carry out physical experiments and produce isotopes for medicine and industry, which is the basis for further development of the experimental complex and its applications.

In the 1950s he participated in the creation of a 180 MeV proton synchrotron in P.N.Lebedev Physical Institute of RAS and the launch of a 10 GeV synchrotron in Dubna; in the 1960s he headed the commissioning and startup of a 6 GeV electron synchrotron in Yerevan.

He had a lot of scientific publications, trained many highly qualified specialists in the field of accelerator science and technology.

His name was included in the INR RAS Book of Honor in 2000.

Awards: Honored Scientist (1998), Russian Government Prize (2000), the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, Academician M.A.Markov Prize (2008), Commemorative medal " 100 years since the birth of L.F. Vereshchagin" (2009).
